BuzzAnalytics was asked to employ its Internet mining tools to monitor
Mind Share and Buzz for the Democratic primaries and the US National Presidential
race between Bush and Kerry. Even viewing our raw summary data in the
illustrations below, one can see how, in the primaries, Kerry constantly
advanced his mind share over time. One also can see, almost first-hand,
the “self-destruct” of Howard Dean with the horizontal “saw
tooth” response observed immediately following his notorious “scream.”
The reasons for the “saw tooth” pattern are discussed in our
report. In the presidential race, our results indicated that Bush was
always slightly ahead, and forecasted a close election with Bush as the
winner.
The track of the Democratic Primaries starts from about a year prior
to the selection of Kerry and Edwards, and the case for the Presidential
race concludes on election night and goes back about a year. Particular
focus on media events, resources expended, issues, spin, and the virtually
instantaneous results achieved proved to be of extreme value in managing
resources and issues.
