We illustrate the extreme time sensitivity of the BuzzAnalytics harvester methodology for monitoring
and tracking Internet Buzz on Osama Bin Laden between 1 and 18 September 2001. While it is possible to track
this information on a nation-by-nation, language, or targeted media basis; this example was the result of a global sweep.
The technique captures the daily increase in Buzz after 9/11 with small intensity waves visible four
days prior to the attack on the Twin Towers. While positive and negative connotations could have
been harvested, this was a simple sweep used to illustrate the extreme time sensitivity of the algorithms.
