For a media company, BuzzAnalytics was tasked to assess the media effectiveness to certain media ads for "8 Mile" the movie starring Eminem and Kim Basinger. In particular, the goals were to scan the Internet as well as certain Internet media sources, calculate and track Eminem's change in Internet Buzz before and after a number of media events, compare the absolute Buzz to other Hip-Hop artists, analyze and assess the change in Internet Mind Share, develop forecasting tools to help predict album sales based on increased mind share, and finally, compute the change in the value of the Eminem brand based on substantially increased mind share. In this engagement, we employed the full set of our machine intelligence tools to filter out the noise and random variations to isolate the effect of the media contribution to the change in mind share and to closely estimate brand value and future album sales.
The illustration below provides a highly consolidated overview of the process. Note the steep increase in Eminem's Internet Buzz and Mind Share immediately following the initiation of the media events. Results were obtained for each media event; however, in this overview, results were consolidated to illustrate the process.
